I retired from the US Army in 2020, with most of my 20 years spent in Communications (tactical radio and computer network based). After retirement, I was the IT manager for a tech company in Virginia for about 1.5 years, then a Technical Solutions Consultant for Mandiant (later Google Mandiant) for another 2 years.
My primary skillset is in setting up small business centric networks and firewalls, and providing local administration for the same. I am well versed in Cisco network and firewall technologies, Synology Network Access Storage, Microsoft Azure and Digital Ocean cloud environments, and Microsoft Windows and Server Administration. I also have familiarity with Google Workspace, Square, Squarespace, and am becoming familiar with Stripe. Finally, I have owned and operated my own business where I provided the bulk of the IT work.
Rates are flexible and will depend on the scope and nature of work being done, but generally expect to fall in the range of $40/hr for labor, plus material expenses for procurement of equipment and installation materials (if needed).
